SAT and ACT Test Prep

We get it: it’s hard to know what’s going on with standardized testing these days.  The COVID-19 outbreak has led the vast majority of colleges to suspend their testing requirements for the freshman class of 2021…and even without a pandemic to worry about, the SAT and ACT — along with their founding organizations — have been coming under regular fire for years.  Here in California, for example (where Acuity is based), their standing with the UC system is so precarious that both exams appear to be on their way out, forever, as factors for admission.

COVID-19 suspensions notwithstanding, however, it is important to understand that “test optional” doesn’t exactly equate to “we don’t care about your test scores.”  Indeed, there is no question that strong test scores continue to provide applicants with an unmatched opportunity to confirm the intellectual might behind a soaring high school GPA…or to demonstrate the potential for success beyond what a mediocre high school GPA might suggest.

What all this boils down to is that the SAT and ACT exams still present an admissions force to be reckoned with, especially for students with elite aspirations (or with inadequate high school records).

Fortunately, for more than 20 years Acuity has been helping students to develop the skills required to succeed on the SAT and ACT alike.  All that experience has led us to believe that for most students the best way to prepare is (duh!) dedicated practice, and plenty of it.  But as in any other field of human endeavor, practice doesn’t help unless it’s the right kind of practice — and that’s where we come in.

From comprehensive programs that detail every aspect of the ACT or SAT in its entirety, to five-session strategy primers that instill our students with the fundamental skills and approaches necessary for testing success, to one-off meetings on a single topic of a client’s choice — and to almost everything in between — we have the right test-prep program to meet your needs, whatever those needs may be.  Contact us with questions, or check out our packages and pricing here.
